John W. Hogg
President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Hogg has a proven record of accomplishment in mining, process plant operations, project management and terminal operations. Mr. Hogg’s experiences include being Vice President and General Manager of Westshore Terminals Ltd., various senior positions at Curragh Resources and Denison Mines Coal Division, where he was involved in the construction and operation of the Quintette Coal Mine in northeast BC. He joined the Company as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2004 and was appointed President and CEO in July 2007.
Robert M. Bays
VP and GM, Wolverine Mine

Mr. Bays has over 30 years of experience in the coal industry. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Bays previously worked at Arch Coal Inc. for 27 years, the last five years of which he was President of ACI's Northeast Region in West Virginia. Mr. Bays joined Western Canadian Coal in 2007.
William D. Burton
Senior VP Engineering/Projects

Mr. Burton is a professional mining engineer with over 30 years of experience in mining, including involvement with the start up and operation of two coal mines in the eastern foothills of the Canadian Rockies. He joined the Company as VP Operations in 2004.
William J. Caughill
Director, Accounting

Mr. Caughill has been a Chartered Accountant for approximately 30 years and has worked primarily in the resource industry. He has significant experience in the operations side of the mining industry being involved in the Quintette Coal start up in northeast British Columbia and doing system implementations. Mr Caughill has spent the last 10 years in the corporate environment responsible for risk management, treasury functions and external reporting both nationally and internationally. Mr. Caughill joined Western in 2006.
Greg J. Jones
Corporate Counsel and Secretary

Mr. Jones has over 26 years of experience in the primary resource sector in British Columbia. He joined the Company in 2005 as Corporate Counsel and was appointed to the Corporate Secretary position in January 2007. Prior to joining the Company, he was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary with Weldwood of Canada Limited from May 2000 until April 2005 and Corporate Counsel and Assistant Secretary from 1981 to 2000.
Alan O. Kazuta
Director, Human Resources

Mr. Kazuta has over 30 years of human resource experience and 13 years experience in the coal and coal related industries. He has a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC. Mr. Kazuta has previously worked at Westshore Terminals Ltd. and joined Western Canadian Coal in April, 2005.
Michael W. Lacarte
Mine Manager, Brule Mine & Willow Creek Mine

Mr. Lacarte has over 14 years of experience in the coal industry, 25 years in mining. He has a mining technologist from Haileybury School of Mines and a BSc. Mining from Queen’s. Mr. Lacarte has previously worked at Nuna Logistics as Project Engineer on various projects at Ekati, Diavik and Snap Lake; at Bullmoose Operating Corporation as Environmental Coordinator; Endako Mines as Mine Engineer and joined Western Canadian Coal in 2004.
Kathleen J. Pomeroy
VP, Environment/Regulatory

Ms. Pomeroy has 28 years of experience in the field of environmental and regulatory affairs. Her focus has been on project environmental and regulatory approvals, development of corporate environmental plans, programs, and management systems and corporate environmental guidance. She joined the Company in 2002 and became Vice President in 2004.
Jeff A. Redmond
Director, Finance

Mr. Redmond is a Chartered Accountant with over 12 years of financial management experience working with resource and hi-tech companies. His progression of responsibilities has included accounting, taxation, treasury and corporate finance. Mr. Redmond joined the company in 2004.

The Company’s objectives are:
- By 2012 produce over 7 million tonnes per year of coal
- Allocate resources prudently and efficiently for the development of its coal properties, to achieve maximum value for the Company's shareholders
- Demonstrate to regulators, First Nations, local communities and other stakeholders that the Company will conduct its operations in an environmentally and socially responsible manner
